Thank you for coming out to the Westerly Creek/Toll Gate Creek Trail Connection open-house on Thursday, November 21st. Here is a brief summary of where we stand.
The path for this connection was identified in 2012 and the city received a transportation improvement program grant from the Denver Regional Council of Governments to make it a reality. Community outreach (mailers, canvassing, and water bill notifications) began in 2017 and concluded in 2018 after a series of public meetings.
The purpose of the trail connection is to better facilitate existing bicycle traffic (both commuters and recreational use) and encourage the growth of bicycle useage and light rail ridership through infrastructure upgrades.
Staff and the project consultants are currently compiling all of your written and verbal feedback and will be sending the complete collection back out to everyone who signed up. I have also requested a copy so I can read over everyone’s thoughts and concerns. It is my understanding that the project must be completed in order to ensure we don’t have funds sequestered for not meeting the project schedule. This doesn’t mean that nothing can be changed after the fact; we *should* have some funding left over to do just that based on your feedback.
Thank you all again for your time and your feedback, and you can always reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will keep you updated as I receive more information, which should be much more frequent after December 2nd.
